A failed PVC cap to the bathroom vanity led to significant water damage affecting the bathroom, entry, and crawlspace. Water filled ducting, collapsed, and broke supply lines in the crawlspace. Affected materials included vinyl and particle board underlayment in the bathroom, particle board under the tub, and wood pillars, subfloor, and joists in the crawlspace. Microbial growth was present behind the shower, and the crawlspace had high humidity requiring additional dehumidification.
Alpha Omega Restoration Pros extracted water from the crawlspace, removed partial floating flooring in the bathroom, and sealed off and took down the affected duct run in the crawlspace. Affected wood pillars were unwrapped. An additional dehumidifier was deployed to control humidity in the crawlspace. Microbial growth behind the shower in the bathroom was source contained, and doorway containment was established for wall drying. Inventory and hydro measurements were taken, and drying equipment was set up. Future monitoring visits are scheduled.
