The customer experienced a sewage backup caused by a failing septic system, which forced contaminated water up through the floor drain in their basement mechanical room. This resulted in significant biohazard contamination affecting the mechanical/rifle room, living room, and bathroom.
We initiated emergency biohazard mitigation by moisture mapping the affected areas and completing a pre-mitigation DocuSketch scan. Our team set up an Air Filtration Device (AFD) to manage indoor air quality, performed the controlled demolition and disposal of contaminated carpet, underlayment, and MDF base trim, and executed two-foot cuts to remove affected drywall in the living room and hallway. We treated all exposed structural framing and concrete slabs using a professional-grade antimicrobial agent (Mil-Go) followed by a thorough HEPA vacuuming and wipe-down. We have currently stabilized the environment with industrial dehumidification and are scheduled to complete the remaining drywall removal and antimicrobial treatments in the next phase of the project.
