The customer experienced water damage originating in the upstairs kitchen, likely linked to an unhooked dishwasher from previous contractor work. The moisture affected the subflooring beneath the kitchen cabinets, traveled down an air vent into the main ducting trunk line, seeped into the basement sill plate, and saturated surrounding insulation and drywall.
Our team immediately addressed the standing water by draining trapped moisture out of the air vents and main ducting trunk lines. To target hidden saturation underneath the kitchen cabinets without full demolition, we drilled strategic ventilation holes into the toe kicks. We then performed controlled demolition in the basement to carefully remove water-damaged fiberglass insulation from the concrete walls. Throughout the process, technicians used digital moisture meters to test and map precise saturation levels across the subfloors, sill plates, and interior drywall. Finally, we set up a comprehensive structural drying system using commercial air movers and a heavy-duty dehumidifier across both the kitchen and unfinished basement to restore the property.
